Gandalf to Frodo
"Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends."
-J.R.R. Tolkien
Surely we all in one way or another thought or actually even given off a lot of energy wishing someone to "drop dead". How can we not think of such an atrocious end for someone we incredibly hate? By all means I will make sure that I owe this particular person nothing that can be taken against me and his/her death shall be a reward.
But of course that’s just me and my "evil twin" thoughts.
I can’t give life, at least not right away on demand, and therefore I must not wish (too hard) for someone else’s loss of it.
I don’t want to be the one to take blame for the coulda would have been’s so I step back with a little bow and leave faith, if not fate, take its course.
