Like a Puzzle Piece

posted: Mon 24th Jul, 2006, categories: SMS Stuff

You are part of the puzzle of someone else’s life.

You may never know where you fit but others will fill the holes in their lives with pieces of you.

So if you run out of reasons to live,

remember that someone else’s life may never be complete without you in it.

Its often a bit corny reading stuff like this on my mobile phone but keeping record these forwarded quotes sometimes gives me some sort of slight encouragement, enough to keep me sane, enough to keep me going through tough times.

Okay.

Enough of that sentimental crap. Move along now.

So I passed by the moonlight

With your shadow at my feet

Your scent is against the air I breathe

The hair on my face

Gently pierce my eyes

Then my tears turn into dreams

And mornings by your side

Gentle and Rough

posted: Thu 20th Jul, 2006, categories: Bloody Twilight

You’re about to cross the street

Your best friend is waving at you from the other side

Oblivious to everything around you, you are more curious of the ice cream your friend is holding

With half a foot size of a hand someone suddenly grabbed your arm

Large, coarse hands

Rough from healing scars

Quickly you are pulled back and your ears bleed from the screeming of horns and tires

You are cursed at by a truck driver

You are only seven and a half

You forget the ice cream

You forget your best friend

You just cling to the gentle rough hands that silently consume your tears

Children are Atheists

posted: Wed 19th Jul, 2006, categories: Uncategorized

"It is an interesting and demonstrable fact that all children are atheists and were religion not inculcated into their minds, they would remain so."

~Ernestine Rose

But children also have a concept of the presence of a higher being. Not only children for that matter. Even adults. We’ve created the the idea of having someone more powerful than us. Like the god of the mountain, god of the rock, god of the sea, god of the clouds, the god of thunder! Where do you suppose these superhumans popped out from? Krypton?

The idea of a higher being is present in children and adults alike. And like most things we just want to put label into it. Like the god of___, or the goddess of ___, or like christianity being the belief in one____, or like subordination being the belief in one boss.

Something about Friendship

posted: Tue 18th Jul, 2006, categories: SMS Stuff

Friendship isn’t about whom you have known the longest,

who came first,

or who cares the most.

It’s about who came,

cared,

and never left.

In my 27+ years of existence I have had more than a public schools number of required classroom students whom I can generally call my friends. A tenth of me is dismayed  because this SMS made me realize that I have only 4 people left in my friends list. The only four who are still here, and still caring for whatever dung pile I’m burying myself in. The greater part of me is glad to know that these people who stayed are painfully honest and trustworthy. Only 4. Imagine that. My best friend isn’t part of the fantastic four. I lost her sometime last year. I miss her first born. My wonderful goddaughter. *sigh*

The Irony with Happy People..

posted: Sun 16th Jul, 2006, categories: Uncategorized

Happy people don’t have everything in life.

They just make the best out of everything that God provides.

But no matter how hard we try to make the best out of what we have we always end up short of our expectations deviating us from any actual fulfillment. Our desire to be the best is insatiable that we fail to notice how fortunate we already are as compared to a third of the worlds population. I think I will bow to the genius who once vandalized my seat back in college with these words:

"Satisfaction is the end of desire"

We were taught to be grateful for little things but none have thought to appall the yearning within us. So it’s okay to want something better but be content with what you have.

Are you confused yet? I know I am.

God’s Musicians

posted: Sun 16th Jul, 2006, categories: SMS Stuff

God is the great composer of life and He made great music for us. But we are still the musicians, and we should perform our lives according to His compositions.

But a point to ponder is that we are also called to make a joyful noise. So can our lives truly be lived raucously yet remain to be for the Lord?

On Cheap Music

"Extraordinary how potent cheap music is"

-Noel Coward

I was moved when I heard this quote over the radio, I’d say its more than 10 years ago. I wrote it on one of my notebooks (for stuff that I come across with or anything crazy that crosses my mind) and didn’t really have any reason for believing the quote until recently.

About a decade or so ago, the music was magnificent and I can still feel the euphoria upon hearing those songs (some may disagree, but tap with me and perhaps you’ll get the rhythm of my thoughts). Songs that have turned up recently are rather irritating to a musicians ears and I can much less imagine the disgust of poets upon hearing the repetitive nonsense. Why, even a six year old can come up with even better lyrics (and to think that the only background they have with poetry are nursery rhymes)!

And now the disease has clearly spread. Several groups have turned up with ear slashing songs and have actually made it their bread and butter for quite an amount of time (pray they don’t amass any platinum awards).

No I have not written any song that has actually had the opportunity to make someone else’s ears bleed. And no I have not the courage (nor the croc skin face) to leave the world to hear of my ramblings and ranting of melodies. But how these people who are unmistakeably tone deaf gather tons of listeners and supporters who do not end up with ear specialists remains a mystery to me.

And can you believe how like a weed they suddenly spring to life amidst all the perfection of music? And as weeds they do put an arrest to the blooms of wonderful music.

*sigh* Why must cheap music be so potent?

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.
-Noel Coward

He who cannot keep a note must indeed take that long walk — away from me.

perfect moments

At times, life never seems to be the way we want it, but we live it the way we can. There’s no perfect life but we can fill it with perfect moments.

Now I’m at a loss for words. I can only agree with this SMS (for now at least).

The Gift of Life

Life is travelled only once.

Today’s moment becomes tomorrow’s memory.

Enjoy every moment,

good and bad,

happy or sad.

Because the gift of life

is life itself.

I guess even with nothing much to do, except on weekends, I ought to be happy. Well I am. At least I believe I am. Oh! No time for such crap I have a piano lesson to attend to! I almost forgot its a Saturday!

Of Stars and People

Sometimes we shine with the rest

Sometimes we twinkle alone

and sometimes, we may never know,

that we actually made someone’s wish come true.
